ATTICA. Athens. Circa 165-42 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 31 mm, 16.82 g, 11 h), Antiochos, Karaichos, and Abron, magistrates, 131/0. Head of Athena Parthenos to right, wearing triple-crested Attic helmet adorned with Pegasos and long tendril on the bowl, and with the foreparts of four horses above the visor. Rev. A-ΘE / ANTI-ΟΧΟΣ / KAPA/IXOΣ / ABP/ΩΝ Owl standing facing on Amphora; to right, elephant standing right; on amphora, Γ; in exergue, ΣΦ; all within laurel wreath. Thompson 397e. Minor marks and light doubling on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.
